Description: Moxiwell containing Moxifloxacin which is advanced 4th generation fluroquinolone having widest spectrum activity against Bacteria, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Fungus and others.
Mode of Action:
The bactericidal action of moxifloxacin results from inhibition of the enzymes topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV.
DNA gyrase is an essential enzyme that is involved in the replication, transcription and repair of bacterial DNA.
Topoisomerase IV is an enzyme known to play a key role in the partitioning of the chromosomal DNA during bacterial cell division.
After IM/IV injection, moxifloxacin is absorbed well. Its bioavailability approaches ninety per cent. Moxifloxacin has wide tissue distribution. Plasma protein binding is approximately 40 to 50%. The t1/2 is about twelve hours. It undergoes conjugation with glucuronide and sulfate and then it is eliminated mainly through the kidney and faeces. In animal studies it has been found to be secreted during lactation.
Each ml contains
Moxifloxacin hydrochloride B.P.
